Kristen at the NYC MET Ball

n

So ever since Kristen left Vancouver for NYC people have been buzzing, her attendance to the MET ball was confirmed on Saturday. The whole aura and build up of the ball has been very exciting, this is a big deal people! Marchesa were hinting they may be the ones to dress Kristen, everyone wanted her and who got her? CHANEL. Karl Lagerfeld does not dress any old Hollywood riff raff and when he declares you worthy to wear his couture line AND handpicks your dress you sure as hell do not argue.

Lets talk about the MET fashion as a whole, never have i been so disappointed by the fashion choices. This is an event where you can pull out all the stops and so many celebrities failed, in fact so much of the fashion was similar and boring. There was alot of golds/silvers/whites and lots of plain silhouettes. I wanted more colour and fashion forward designs. Thats my overall view on the red carpet i actually struggle to say anyone who stood out for me.

Now onto Kristen this is a look you will either love or hate. (psst I did predict a gothic look)

Kristen wears a Chanel long black taffeta and tulle embroidered gown. Lets look at the gown there are several things i like about it and several things i do not. Remember this is only my personal opinion, the comment box below is all for you guys.....be honest. First thing is first the top taffeta part of the dress is rockin, i love how she was different from the other celebs and went for a structured top. The bodice gave her curves which is difficult to do on a skinny girl. This is the positive now the negative. The train....... i do not like one bit. Yes i like the sheer idea, its youthful and sexy but i hate how the front stops at her feet, it doesn't do her legs justice. But i will say this, the dress stood out.....and was probably one of the only ones to do so all night plus it looked better in motion and from the back. Her hair is another matter and this may be one of the elements of this look that brings the whole outfit down. You have a girl with a tiny body so do not slick her hair back like that, it does not work. The hair would have looked better swept up or down and slightly wavy. As for the make up..........flawless.

Her shoes are Sergio Rossi in fact you will recognise them because she has worn this style of shoe several times in the last few months. What can i say? You can never go wrong with those pumps they are sky high and compliment those legs for days. Love them. Let me tell you one thing, i girlcrush hard on Chanel quilted handbags i mean i love quilting in general it goes with almost anything and is a timeless classic. Here Kristen carries a small Chanel black box quilted clutch. There's not much to say other than i love it. Her ring is also by Chanel, it is part of their fine jewellery line and is vintage.

I do like the look, it was a step in the right direction but i think the hair all in all tainted the whole look. But not a bad attempt for the fierce ones first MET ball. What do you think?

You are so brilliant. I cant even explain how amazing this post is. I wish I could explain how benefitial your site is. Your love for fashion is beyond me and the fact that it invoves my favorite actress makes it even better. Keep up the great work sweetie.

Its me @defiesgravity bka @defiesKSTEWness

I think this look is stunning! I was actually happy about the slicked back hair, which she also rocked on Jimmy Fallon, it's very sexy. The makeup is flawless and I love that she got a mani and pedi. The train in the front should have been either shorter or longer, this ankle length is very awkward. Overall, I think she looks fantastic, a little Old Hollywood and a little Goth. Perfection.

I'm with you....the train should have gone all the way to the floor and I would have absolutely adored it--no questions asked.

Think she was a total knockout, a brave choice and a risk which I loved, she doesn't do safe and why should she. We knew it would be something special and as with some of her New Moon press outfits this will be talked about and remembered. Love it hate it..I loved it Kristen was fearless tonight. Compare her to Careys outfit...Enough said. Rockin Stew another win.

I love the dress. I agree that the sheer could have been longer but it doesn't bother as much as the hair. The hair is pure #FAIL.
Apart from the hair, I love everything : dress, make up, bag, shoes.

Standing out instead of blending in...this is why we love you Kristen!

I feel like the hem was hacked off last minute. Like she tried walking in the dress, couldn't without being too nervous about tripping and so out came the scissors. In the long run it's probably better bc she'll be barefoot by night's end (like the oscars) and a long front would drag.

Makeup looks amazing! Hair - eh.

The handbag - omg. I was jut in Chanel saturday for fun. Die for the Chanel quilted bag. Die. Almost reminds me of the camera bag they have, it's so small.

Thank you for such another great entry!

Love U Love U Love U. Now on to the look. Hmmm, I am with you all the way. The dress is a stunner but as the great Valentino himself said "there is nothing more disgusting than a woman in a gown that stops at her ankles". So wit hthat being said, yes that train needed to be longer. I adore the Rossi pumps, and the bodice did give her curves. In her airport picks the other days she looked a little thin, this look put the shape back on her. Chanel is my Number 1 favorite so I'm in heaven. Now can we please attack the hair dresser for that horrid look. Love u Kiki, now get some sleep.

Not a huge fan of short/long sheer combo but I think she rocks this and makes it her own. Elegant but badass. While the execution of her hair is not perfect, I do like the whole "old hollywood" look on her, something new. Makeup is redic per usual! Who doesn't love a little (or a lot) Chanel? Great post, as always. THX @KstewFashion!

Amazing post!! Loved reading your thoughts xo

P.S. I need a picture of Uncle Karl & Kristen, and hell, even Anna, together. Can you image?

I LOVE the outfit but thought the tulle could've ended to the ground. I LOVE LOVE the structure of the top portion of dress...stunning and very fashion forward oppose to many people's choice of simplicity tonight.

I can NOT say how much I want those fuck HAWT ass Sergio Rossi shoes! It compliments those legs of hers...*thud*

The smoky eyes on her is stunning (like always) dark stewie is always yummy.

Though I haven't seen a clear picture of her 'do from the back, I already want to say, FAIL! My friend pointed out that she looks like Bruce Willis' daughter, Rumor, with her hair like that. Conclusion: I still hate the hair.

Thanks for the entry! I can't wait to see a pic of the ring!

DAMN she's good....

i found it pretty extreme.. did not see it coming.. but i loved the edge although i d love more to see her just for once in more smooth colors soft pink or white.. the shoes were o m g!! the ring she s wearing i got no idea or pic.. and the hair cool but not the best i ve seen on her(look oscar)
maira greece

Everything is perfect...chanel mostly...but the hair...oh the hair..i miss oscar hair..

Still waiting for the long flowy dress wt a high slit though...leg mcgee pleasee..

gorgeous shoes

To be honest... I'm a bit disappointed. I agree with you about the gown. But I don't like her makeup here. In the first photo it looks quite nice but in the rest it's too dark compared to the black gown. And the hair... I don't know what they've done with that. In my opinion it's too sleek.
Anyway, I love the pumps and I must say that she looks very pretty herself.

I really loved her dress, and though I really love her shoes too, they really don't match this dress. They're too high for this dress, optically it makes the sheer skirt of her dress look shorter, and she really needed a finer shoe underneath this.

@patzstewfan

she looks so different from the usual kstew, we see.. maybe it's the hair.. at first i thought it was her makeup.. she looks a bit bloated/swollen in the facial area(i'm not implying that she fat, cause she is FAR from it.).. i think she may have been tired..

love the shoes, dress, and makeup.. except the hair.. someone mentioned that the hair dresser should be shot..

i wonder how it looks in the back..

loved the clutch, hated the hair.
but im not sure why the dress looked so much better in that picture of the model... Maybe it is because she model had sleeves and Kristen didnt't. sleeves would have improved it a lot

I thought the dress made her look chubby and short. there is just somthing about this look that I don't like. The dress would have better if the train was floor length and the sleeves were on. She took a risk but hair ruined everything. I wish I could strangle the hairstylist. Just waiting for eclipse press tour and premiere and see how she does.

not that i think that the marcel-wave is ever coming back, but i actually loved her hair and thought it complemented the whole goth-funky-retro look she got goin'. it's prob never gonna be a favorite look of mine, but i think she looks better with each viewing. (my main problem is i can't help but think she's channeling dita von teese and evan rachel wood in this-love their style but would prefer kristen wearing something less 'borrowed'.)

heey i like yor website<3 hyaha
But i have a qiestion how do you make a website with a blog???
