For this look Kristen's hair is slightly wavy, and bed head ruffled, plus it also shows off the layers in her hair. Kristen's a small girl, and this particular hair cut shows off her facial bone structure really well. Now that the Jett haircut is growing out - even though I'm gonna kind of miss it because she in full on badass mode - it's getting back to the length where it shows off her face again.

Not that the Jett didn't, but let's face it, the Jett did was it was supposed to do!

The wavy hair is also a really natural look for Kristen and is something that any one can do, no matter what type of hair you've got. Doesn't matter if your hair is straight, naturally wavy, or naturally curly.

I'm gonna tips for each type of hair though, so that way you can each know how to do it.

First, start off by shampooing and conditioning your hair.
Tip: I listed, in both the expensive and cheap products, two different types of shampoos and conditioners used for people with curly hair. Even if you have straight hair you can use these. I simply listed them because the both provide the right kinds of nutrients for your hair that keep it from frizzing, and will lock in moisture. I myself have used both, and they are all really good.

Step 1:
Next towel dry your hair by blotting it, instead of wrapping the towel around your strands. Then, using a wide toothed comb, comb through your hair to release it of tangles. If your hair tangles really easily I suggest using a spray leave in conditioner, or No More Tangles from Johnson and Johnson.

Step 2:
Apply the styling product of your choice.
Tip: If your hair is straight, or wavy I suggest using either the frizz styling spray, from the expensive line, or the John Frieda Dream Curls, from the cheap line. If your hair is naturally curly, I recommend either the frizz styling creme, from the expensive examples, or the Garnier Wave Enhancing spray from the cheap.

Then comb through your hair again, to fully distribute the product all throughout your hair.
Tip: If your hair is naturally curly, thick, or just usually unruly you might want to do that with the vent brush to provide more leverage, and if so, then start at the ends of your hair and work your way up to the roots - this releases tangles with out the usual snagging.

Step 3:
Blow dry your hair with the vent attachment, not the diffuser.
Tip: It is easier to achieve the wavy results you want, by drying your hair by flipping your head upside down. Then, take your fingers, and lightly brush them back and forth in even strokes over your scalp, sort of like your "mussing" up your hair as you dry it.
If you do have naturally curly hair, you might want to brush your fingers throughout your hair as you dry to ensure that it waves more than curling. If it does curl some, don't worry, we'll solve that in our next step.

Once hair is dry, move onto to Step 4:
First, start off by sectioning off your hair into small parts, while you heat up your 1.5" curling iron. If you don't have a 1.5" barreled iron a 1" will work just as fine.
Tip: If you have short hair, use a 1" barrel instead.

Next, going one section at time, curl your hair with the curling iron. You can use the clamp, but it's better on your hair if you don't.

Wait for your hair to cool. When it does, flip your head back over, and run your fingers through your hair to separate the strands, again, "mussing" it up.
Tip: If your hair is too curly, then run a brush through it. Then muss it up again by flipping your head up side down again. If it is still too curly then try to flatten some of the strands out using the curling iron, and loosely dragging is down your hair by curling the strands around it, without using the clamp.

Tip: If you want your style to look like "pieces", in other words, have a harder edge to it, and not so soft, I suggest using a small dab of the wax or pommade. Distribute this by rubbing the product between your fingers, and then lightly brushing your hair with your fingers, paying particularly close attention to the ends of you hair.

Tip: If you hair is falling flat later on, trying spraying some hair spray directly onto your roots, and then mussing up your hair again.

How To Get Kristens Oscar Hairstyle

First, start off by washing and conditioning your hair.
Tip: Using non-frizz or moisturizing formulas will help to contain fly-aways. I particularly love the ones listed on the Polyvore. The Living Proof shampoo and conditioner are amazing, as well as the new Naturals line from Tresemme; plus the Naturals line is all certified organic.

Towel dry hair.

STEP 1:
While hair is still wet, apply mousse to hair. Then distribute mousse throughout using a wide toothed comb.

STEP 2:
Dry hair with a large barreled round brush.
Tip: To get maximum volume, either apply a volume spray while hair is still damp to just the roots, and/or section off your hair while blow drying. Then using the round brush, start at the roots, under your hair, and with the concentrator attachment blow air on to the roots until dry before pulling the brush through towards the ends.

STEP 3:
Curl your hair with a 1" barreled curling iron.
Tip: For long hair, use a 1.5" barrel.

Then, once cooled run your fingers through your hair a few times to distribute waves.

STEP 4:
Secure off a portion of hair, about 1-2" wide in the very front of your scalp. With that section, make smaller sections (about 4 or 5). Then with those pieces, about halfway down the strands of your hair, loosely braid it to the ends.
Tip: If this is too hard, then you can always twist it, and it will look just as good.

Next, gather all the braids, and the rest of your hair and lightly pull your hair back into a loose bun at the nape of your neck. Do this so there is still volume at the roots, and so that your hair isn't too tight. If your hair is too tight, then more than likely, your overall hair style will look to heavily done, and not effortless like Kristen's.

Then secure it with bobby pins.
Tip: Kristen's hair is in multiple layers due to her Joan Jett haircut, and if yours is in multiple layers too then you will more than likely have a few strands to come loose from the bun. No worries; just take them and secure those down at the base of the bun with bobby pins.

Finish off by spraying hair all over with hair spray, and lightly patting down to secure fly-aways if you have them.

Disclaimer: There are two sets of products listed. One that is name brand and tends to be a bit pricier, and another that can be found easier in grocery/drug stores and runs a bit cheaper than the other versions. Each one will work just as well as the other. I've listed both so that you could get what you wanted solely based on your individual preferences.

First comb through, or brush, your hair to rid it of tangles.

Then shampoo and condition hair.
Tip: Shampoo your hair first thing when you shower/bathe. You don't have to repeat. Then when conditioning make sure to apply more creme at the end of your hair, and a lesser amount at the roots. Let the conditioner sit on your hair for a few minutes. The steam in the shower helps your hair to absorb more of the conditioner, thereby giving its ingredients more time to soak in and do what they're supposed to do. Comb your fingers through to hair a few times after applying conditioner to make sure that it is distributed through all of your strands.
Also, rinsing your hair in cold water will help to make it shinier as well.

Step 1: Towel dry/blot your hair dry with a towel. Don't twist it in the towel, as that can lead to breakage. I've clipped a great hair towel on to the Polyvore set so that you can see an example.

Once hair is rid of a much excess water as possible, section off pieces, and spray the volumizing spray directly on to the roots only. I suggested using the spray as it will put the product directly where it is needed the most, and you won't end up with an excess amount that could end up weighing your hair down. Plus, it's easier to manipulate than mousse.

Rub your fingertips all over your scalp to make sure the product distributes throughout your scalp and roots as much as possible.

Next, take the hair creme and rub into your fingers. Then run your fingers throughout your hair starting just below your roots to throughout the ends. Using a wide toothed comb, comb through the part of the hair that you just applied the creme to, so that it's spread evenly.
Tip: If you have short hair to medium length hair, like Kristen, then use only a dime sized amount of creme. If longer than use a nickel to quarter sized amount.

Step 2: Using a paddle brush (so that it gets your hair straighter), blow dry your hair by raking the bristles through your roots, holding the hot air there for about 5 seconds, then lightly pull the brush down through towards the end, and making sure to follow with the nozzle of the dryer as you go.
Tip: This is easier to do if you have pre-sectioned off you hair, and you go piece by piece; or you can flip your head over and dry it upside down.

Once done, use the cool shot to set your hair, and to get rid of any excess frizzing.

Step 3: Once hair is dry, section off a back portion, about 1 to 2 inches worth, of your hair at the crown of your head. Using a fine toothed comb, or the pick end of it, and gently tease the roots only on the underside of the sectioned off piece. Then lay it down so that it blends back into your hair.

Then cordon off another, 1 to 2 inches deep, section of hair from temple to temple. Keep this section separated.
Tip: If you've got long bangs then use those. If you don't have a much as they made for Kristen then you can gather more, or less depending on your preference. If you have short bangs then make sure to grab longer sections of hair behind it so that it can be blended in.

Step 4: Create a French twist by loosely gathering your hair, excluding the front section, at the nape of you neck. Then start to twist. As the twist gets tighter start to pull the ends only up towards the crown of your head. Your hair should start folding over itself to create the twist. Once it won't twist any further, tuck the left over ends into the top of the twist so that they aren't visible. Secure with bobby pins throughout the twist.
Tip: This is easier done by placing a finger in between the prongs of the pin and then pushing the ends through so that it grabs more hair.
Also, feel free to use a lot of them, so that it's more secure, as too much - in this case - is better than not enough. I've found that with thicker types of hair, more bobby pins should be used because it can fall out easier.
If you have light hair you might want to get pins that are colored to match, as on a really light blonde person dark pins would stand out.

Then where you had previously teased your hair at the crown, rub and pull slightly to release some of the hold of the twist to create the volume on the crown of your head. Don't pull so strong that your hair falls down.
Spray with hair spray, and then lightly pat your hair down, while the hair spray is still wet, to flatten any wayward strands/flyaways.

Step 5: Going back to the sectioned off piece, we're going to use a 1.5" wide barreled curling iron. Start at the roots, under your hair - so that the barrel is in between your forehead and your hair (be careful to not get it too close and burn yourself). Then, without using the clamp, wrap the section of hair around the barrel over and over until all of it is wrapped. Then start to pull the barrel downwards through your strands, making sure to keep a slight hold on your ends as you do this process, until it's gone all the way through from root to tip.
Tip: You may want to split the section into two pieces. This really depends on how wide your head is. If you find that you don't get the results you wanted on the first go, then start over again by sectioning it off in to pieces and repeating the steps.

Once this is done, let the hair fall, and then cool down before you touch it again. Once cooled brush through it so that it creates a slight wave. Pull hair up, and spray hair spray directly at the roots so that it gets volume and will stay throughout the night. Rake the section of hair over to one side, and voila! You've now got a wavy bang to go with your French twist, and your own version of Kristen's hairstyle.
Tip: If your bangs are longer than Kristen's, then, feel free to place the excess behind you ear and secure it down with a couple of criss-crossed bobby pins.

Spray a light dusting of hair spray all over again, and you're done. Enjoy!

Get Kristen Stewart's Runaways Premiere Hairstyle

Via BellaSugar

For the premiere of The Runaways, Frederic Fekkai stylist Adir Abergel gave Kristen Stewart a punky pompadour. It's an unusual hairstyle that was perfect for the opening of a movie about rock 'n' roll.
If you're interested in going rocker chic, too, we got the breakdown from Abergel. So to find out how to get the look, just keep reading.
Abergel started by spraying Kristen's wet hair with hair spray, focusing on her roots. He then blow-dried her hair using his hands for a tousled effect.
Then, he took a one-inch curling iron and barreled curled two-inch sections from the top of her hair, pinning it in place starting at the hairline all the way to the crown.
He lightly waved the hair that was not in pin curls, and left it down.
To finish the look, he took the pin curls out and backcombed her roots for the pompadour effect. To keep the backcombing in place, he sprayed Fekkai Coiff Sheer Hold Hairspray ($10) at her roots, and used a paddle brush to smooth the top of her hair into place.
He completed Kristen's look by applying Fekkai Coiff Nonchalant Piecing & Forming Wax ($23) to the ends of her hair to create some separation, and sprayed on more hairspray to lock in the style.
